Remember when Instagram first came out? (And if you’re too young to remember, I don’t want to hear it.) Back in those days, Instagram was a more humble platform. We used to take our photos in the app, slap a Valencia filter on it and caption it something like lunch with the bestie! There used to be a big joke over Twitter about it that was always some variation of I don’t want to see pictures of what you had for lunch. My, my, how wrong those people were…
These days, social media isn’t just a place to share what you had for dinner; it’s where everyone is getting their cooking inspiration. Instagram and TikTok have completely democratized the culinary world. Gone are the days when celebrity chefs were only born in high-end restaurant kitchens! Now, anyone with a good recipe (and a solid grasp of food styling) can become a food influencer, whether they have trained in a Michelin-starred kitchen or just really love their Ninja Creami.
I mean, here I am. Just a simple gal who works from home and loves to eat, and even I created a whole newsletter out of it. My algorithm is full of countless food videos, but some recipes truly stop me mid-scroll. So, I thought I’d start sharing the ones that caught my eye! I haven’t necessarily made all of these (yet), but they’ve piqued my interest, and if they make it into my kitchen, you’ll hear about it. Here are the recipes that had me stop my scroll this month!
Week Twelve Baking Challenge: Seasonal Stars
Asparagus, Goat Cheese and Tarragon Tart by Melissa Clark
from her book, Dinner in French
This week’s challenge was all about baking with seasonal spring produce, and I went with one of my all-time favorites. This recipe is a total banger. It is simple enough to whip up for a weekday lunch but elegant enough to serve at a dinner party. This tart is the perfect spring combo.
But the tart-making didn’t stop there! I had another sheet of puff pastry hanging around, so I went rogue and made a sweet version using what I had in my fridge; cream cheese and strawberries. Turns out, that was an excellent call. These little tarts froze beautifully and made for a perfect sweet treat throughout the week.
Thanks for reading, sweeties! 🍎
You should make those dipped radishes for any family gathering we might have coming up! They look awesome! (As does the asparagus tart... wish I had it packed for my lunch in 30 minutes!)
